MQTT support for IoT sensors

MQTT is an Internet-of-Things (IoT) messaging standard easing integration of cost effective or small sensors for machine monitoring. Thus it has found wide adoption [mqtt].

MQTT offers many benefits such as dealing with unreliable wireless (LTE) connections, is scalable, offers bi-directional services and connectivity, has embedded security features, supports three QoS levels, and runs on smaller MCU also.

Mechmine added a MQTT Broker to its Cloud to support IoT sensors like the iCOMOXTM from Shiratech-Knowtion.

Data is pushed from an IoT client attached to a rotating machine, via LTE or PoE and the MQTT Broker, to the Mechmine application. Inside the Cloud its data gets processed. Customers benefit from the advanced signal processing to get the most out of a restricted number of IoT data samples. Typical IoT sensors collect machine vibrations, sounds, temperature values or magentic field strenght signals in order to detect machine faults, defects or anomalies. Mechmine's data processing methods output several Trends which enable operators to keep an overview of each machine health status in a factory or plant. These novel Trend curves, i.e. time series, can be further monitored with thresholds, triggering alarms, or with anomalie detection. Each resulting in significant productivity gains, first at the production level and second in the maintenance department.
